Krishna Kumar Thakur takes charge as NMDC Director (Personnel); Brings decades of HR expertise

Hyderabad: Krishna Kumar Thakur assumed charge as Director (Personnel) at NMDC Limited on Thursday. He is a 1998 batch Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) officer and has over two decades of extensive experience in human resource management.

Rich Experience in Railways and CPSUs

In his career spanning nearly two and a half decades, Thakur has held several key positions in Indian Railways and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs). He handled important HR functions in key railway divisions such as Solapur, Bhopal, and Mumbai. As Chairman of the Railway Recruitment Cell of Western Railway, he led the recruitment of nearly 12,000 employees.

Contribution to HR Reforms and Industrial Relations

Thakur's leadership is known for large-scale recruitment processes, managing complex industrial relations, and implementing productivity-enhancing HR reforms. He implemented several progressive initiatives to enhance employee welfare and efficiency.

International and Corporate Experience

During his tenure at RITES Limited, he was involved in an international train operations project in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, as Head of HR at Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, he played a key role in streamlining policies and procedures.

Key Initiatives at BHEL

Prior to NMDC, as Director (HR) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), he implemented several HR, legal, and HSE reforms. These included organizational restructuring, policy reforms, a uniform incentive scheme, and multi-skilling initiatives.

Educational Background and Future Role

An alumnus of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Thakur holds a Master's degree in Literature and a PGDM in Human Resources from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

His experience will play a key role in further strengthening NMDC's people-centric work culture and aligning employee development with organizational goals.
