LPU suspends classes and postpones exams after campus unrest in Punjab (Img: X)
Phagwara: Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab’s Phagwara has announced a temporary suspension of regular classes for 10 days following unrest on the campus. The university has also postponed midterm examinations as authorities work to bring the situation back to normal.
The decision comes after protests erupted on campus following claims related to an alleged incident involving a student. The protests later intensified, creating tension among students and disrupting regular academic activities.
According to the university’s announcement, regular classes will remain suspended from September 28 for a period of 10 days. The administration said the step was taken keeping in mind the safety and security of students.

The university informed students that a fresh schedule for the postponed midterm examinations will be announced later through official communication channels.
LPU has advised students to stay calm and follow instructions issued by the administration. Students who wish to travel to their hometowns have been allowed to do so after informing their parents or guardians.
Those staying on campus have been advised to remain in their hostels or residential areas and avoid unnecessary movement until further updates.
The suspension of academic activities follows protests at the university campus after information about an alleged incident spread among students and on social media.
The situation escalated during the protest, with reports of clashes, damage to property and disruption near the campus area. Police teams reached the spot and began looking into the matter.
