Imphal: Security forces in Manipur arrested three militants, including two women, in separate operations across Tengnoupal and Imphal East districts on Saturday.

Two female cadres of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) were apprehended near Sunrise Ground in Tengnoupal district. They were identified as Akoijam Sakhenbi (23) and Chongtham Hembaby (17).

In a separate operation, a militant linked to the banned PREPAK (PRO) was arrested from Napetpalli in Imphal East. The accused, Ingudam Ingocha Singh (50), was found in possession of a .32 pistol loaded with five cartridges.

Additionally, security forces recovered a 10-kg improvised explosive device (IED) near Sizang Kuki village in Churachandpur district, which was later safely defused.

Award-Winning Kerala Farmer Dies by Suicide Amid Mounting Debt

A 62-year-old farmer from Cherupuzha in Kannur district, Kerala, allegedly died by suicide due to mounting financial distress.

The deceased, Ambattu Elias of Edavaram, had reportedly consumed pesticide and was found critically ill in his field three days prior. He later succumbed while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Elias had been cultivating vegetables on leased land in the hilly regions of Kannur and neighboring Kasaragod district for nearly four decades and had received several honors for his work. Despite planting around 2,500 banana plants this season, his earnings reportedly failed to match the yield, leaving him burdened with debts worth several lakhs of rupees.

Hyderabad Man Dragged 200 Meters by SUV; Two Arrested

A 45-year-old private employee was seriously injured after allegedly being dragged for nearly 200 meters by an SUV in Hyderabad on February 9.

According to police, the SUV driver was speeding recklessly and hit a car from behind without stopping. The victim and his colleagues pursued the vehicle and managed to intercept it. When the victim attempted to stop the SUV, the driver allegedly struck and dragged him before fleeing.

A video of the incident has since gone viral. Police have arrested two individuals who were inside the SUV. The injured man remains hospitalized.

Kerala’s Youngest Organ Donor to Receive State Funeral

Ten-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham from Kerala will be accorded a state funeral, becoming the youngest organ donor in the state.

Aalin suffered severe injuries in a road accident in Pallam, Kottayam, on February 5 and was later declared brain dead at a hospital in Kochi. Her parents, Arun Abraham and Sherin N John, made the decision to donate six of her organs, saving the lives of five children.

Chief Minister P. Vijayan described the decision as a profound message to humanity. The funeral will take place in Pathanamthitta, where police will offer a trumpet salute. Governor RV Arlekar and Health Minister Veena George also lauded the family’s selfless act.

CJI Calls for Victim-Centric Judicial System

Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant emphasized the need to build a judicial system where victims feel safe and secure.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Rohtak District Bar Association, he said that just as patients feel trust upon entering a hospital, litigants should experience similar confidence in courts. He noted that the rising number of pending and newly filed cases reflects growing public trust in the judiciary.

Earlier, he inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Gate at Maharshi Dayanand University and advised students that patience, perseverance, and honesty are key to success. He stressed that rapid progress should not come at the cost of depth, quality, or ethics.
