New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reiterated India’s call for peaceful resolution of global conflicts, asserting that military confrontation cannot provide lasting solutions, particularly in Ukraine and West Asia.
The remarks came after bilateral talks with Austria’s Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, who is currently on a four-day official visit to India.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Modi highlighted the growing global instability and stressed the need for diplomatic engagement. He said both India and Austria share a common position that disputes must be resolved through dialogue rather than force.

The Prime Minister underlined India’s consistent stance in favour of “stable, sustainable and lasting peace” in conflict-hit regions, including Ukraine and West Asia.
Modi noted that the world is going through a “serious and tense” phase, with conflicts impacting not just the directly involved nations but also the global economy and security environment.
He emphasized that prolonged military engagements only deepen crises and called for collective international efforts to de-escalate tensions.
The visit of Chancellor Stocker is expected to strengthen India-Austria relations across sectors such as trade, investment and technology. Both sides discussed ways to expand economic cooperation and deepen engagement in emerging areas.
Officials indicated that the visit marks an important step in enhancing bilateral collaboration and exploring new avenues for partnership.
Referring to broader economic ties, Modi said the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement could open a new chapter in relations between India and the EU.
