New Delhi: In the wake of the tragic aircraft accident near Baramati, which involved Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar among the passengers, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Ministry acted promptly. Ensuring a thorough, transparent, and time-bound inquiry is a top priority.
On 28 January, teams from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Delhi, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Mumbai Regional Office, were immediately dispatched to the crash site. AAIB Director General, G V G Yugandhar, also arrived the same day to oversee the investigation, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The black box of the ill-fated aircraft has been successfully recovered, a critical step in determining the cause of the accident, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. This will provide essential data for understanding the sequence of events leading to the crash.
The Ministry stated that the investigation is being conducted in strict accordance with AAIB Rules, 2025 (Rules 5 and 11), and all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
