The preliminary report released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on July 12 indicated lapses on the part of the pilots, which the Supreme Court termed as irresponsible.
According to DGCA, every pilot in India has to undergo a breathalyzer test before flying to ensure that he is fully fit and alcohol-free. Many daily use products such as perfume, mouthwash, hand sanitizer contain ethyl alcohol, which can affect the breathalyzer device.
The initial investigation suggests that bad weather caused the incident. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were injured during this event.
A technical flaw has been found in the fuel switch locking system of some aircraft, which can pose a security threat.
DGCA has issued necessary amendments based on the airworthiness instructions issued by companies designing or manufacturing aircraft, engines and components registered in India.
