New Delhi: The monsoon may be nearing its withdrawal phase, but weather conditions across several parts of India have taken a sudden turn. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds and lightning in more than 15 states.

The change in weather has brought relief from prolonged heat, with temperatures dropping in several regions and a slight chill being felt during early mornings and nights.

Rain and Snowfall Possibility in Himalayan States

Weather activity has intensified in the Himalayan region, affecting states including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The IMD has predicted continued rainfall and thunderstorms in Uttarakhand during the coming days, while higher altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh may witness light snowfall. These changes in the mountains are also influencing weather patterns in northern plains.

Delhi, UP and Bihar Under Weather Watch

Delhi, Haryana and Punjab are witnessing pleasant weather conditions, with chances of light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds in several areas.

In Uttar Pradesh, many districts may experience thunderstorms, lightning and heavy showers. The continuous rainfall has lowered temperatures, while authorities are monitoring water levels in major rivers.

Bihar is also expected to receive heavy rainfall with lightning activity, prompting weather officials to advise people to remain cautious during thunderstorms.

Heavy Rain Warning in South and Northeast India

Monsoon activity remains active in southern states, with Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.

Several northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, are also expected to witness intense rainfall over the next few days.

The IMD has advised residents in affected regions to stay alert and take necessary precautions during heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning events.
