Weather Update: Clouds Of Trouble Over 18 States! IMD Predicts Heavy Rain And Thunderstorms

New Delhi: The weather situation across several parts of India is set to remain unsettled as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds in multiple states. A developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to influence weather conditions in many regions.

Low Pressure Area Over Bay Of Bengal Intensifies

According to weather experts, a low-pressure area formed near the coastal region of Myanmar has started becoming more active. The system is likely to move towards the Andaman Sea and the northeast Bay of Bengal, increasing the possibility of widespread rainfall and thunderstorms.

The weather system may bring strong winds, lightning activity and intense showers in several areas over the next few days.

Rain Alert Issued For Several States

The IMD has warned of adverse weather conditions in states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Several northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, may also witness rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Hills Face Risk Of Landslides And Flash Floods

Mountain regions remain vulnerable due to the possibility of sudden heavy rainfall. Parts of Uttarakhand, including districts such as Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Chamoli and Rudraprayag, may face risks of landslides and flash floods.

In Himachal Pradesh, areas including Shimla, Sirmaur and Kinnaur may also experience weather-related challenges due to increased water levels in rivers and streams.

Authorities have advised people to avoid vulnerable areas, especially riverbanks and landslide-prone zones.

Delhi-NCR, UP And Bihar Weather Update

Delhi-NCR may witness cloudy skies with chances of light rain, while weather conditions are expected to improve from September 29.

In Uttar Pradesh, rainfall intensity is likely to decrease, though recovery from recent heavy rains may take time. Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to experience thunderstorms and rainfall till October 1, while Madhya Pradesh may continue to receive showers until September 30.
