Jhabua: Nine people were killed, two injured, when a cement-laden truck overturned and fell on a van in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

Police sources said the truck, which was carrying cement from Rajasthan, lost control and toppled over the van late Tuesday night in the Meghnagar police station area. The van was completely crushed in the accident.

All the passengers in the van were residents of Meghnagar and were returning from a wedding ceremony.

Deceased Identified
The deceased have been identified as six women and three men: Mukesh Khaped (40), Akali Parmar (35), Vinod Khaped (16), Kumari Payal (12), Madibai Bamnia (38), Vijay (14), Kumari Kanta (14), Ragini Bamnia (9), and Shavlibai Khaped (35).

The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital, with one of them being shifted to Dahod in Gujarat due to serious injuries.

The local authorities have taken cognizance of the incident and are providing necessary assistance to the affected families.
