New Delhi: A devastating late-night accident in Maharashtra’s Nashik district has claimed the lives of nine members of the same family, leaving the region in deep shock. The incident occurred around 10 PM on Friday in the Shivaji Nagar area of Dindori taluka, when a Maruti XL6 veered off the road and fell into a water-filled well.

According to police officials, the victims belonged to the Dargude family from Indore village in Dindori. The deceased include Sunil Dattu Dargude (32), his wife Reshma, Asha Anil Dargude (32), and six children-five girls aged between 7 and 14, and an 11-year-old boy.

Accident Happened While Returning Home
The family was on their way back after attending a social function when the tragedy struck. In low visibility conditions, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into a deep roadside well. The presence of water significantly complicated rescue efforts.

Local police, administrative authorities, and NDRF personnel rushed to the scene soon after receiving information. After an intense overnight operation, the vehicle was pulled out and all nine bodies were recovered. The incident drew a large number of local residents to the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.

Probe Underway
Police in Dindori have launched a thorough investigation into the accident. Initial findings point to loss of vehicle control as the likely cause, but officials are also examining factors such as road conditions, speed, and other possible contributors.
