No Closed-Door Dialogues! Jharkhand Students Agree For Talks, Demand CM Hemant Soren To Lead Discussion In Live Media

New Delhi: Students protesting against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand’s recruitment examinations have agreed to hold discussions with the state government, but they have placed a key condition any meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren must take place openly in the presence of live media.

The protests, being held in Ranchi, are linked to allegations of irregularities in exams conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC CGL) and other competitive examinations.

Students Reject Closed-Door Discussions

While the state government has expressed willingness to engage with the protesters, students have made it clear that they do not want any closed-door negotiations.

A protester said a meeting on Wednesday night decided that a student delegation would meet government representatives, but the final date and time of the discussion are yet to be confirmed.

The protesters alleged that previous discussions with authorities took place privately but failed to produce any concrete solution.

Two Conditions Placed Before Government

Student leader Ravindra Paswan said the protesters have agreed to dialogue after receiving communication from the government through the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO).

However, students have put forward two major demands:

• The discussion should take place directly with Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
• At least two media representatives should be present during the meeting.

Paswan said dialogue is important in a democracy but added that transparency is necessary to ensure promises made during talks are publicly known.

Government Says Ready For Dialogue

Jharkhand ministers said the government is willing to listen to the students’ concerns. Minister Irfan Ansari said the government has opened the door for discussions and assured that genuine demands would be considered.

Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh also said that the Chief Minister has taken a positive approach and a process has started to engage with the protesters.

However, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore clarified that no formal negotiation committee has been formed. He said a group of ministers has only been assigned to monitor the situation.
