PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase I of Noida International Airport in Jewar, saying it will boost jobs, trade and connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, while strengthening regional growth and logistics capacity.

Noida: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Phase I of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, highlighting its potential to create opportunities for farmers, small traders and youth across Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister was joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Modi described the airport as a major step towards enhancing connectivity and accelerating economic activity in the region. He said the project would contribute to the development of western Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas.
He noted that the airport would benefit cities such as Agra, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Etawah, strengthening their access to national and global markets.
The Prime Minister emphasised that improved connectivity would open up new opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs. He said better logistics and cargo movement would help agricultural produce reach wider markets more efficiently.
He also highlighted employment prospects for local youth, stating that the project would create jobs both directly and indirectly through allied sectors.
The first phase of the airport has been developed at an estimated cost of around ₹11,200 crore under a public-private partnership model.
Designed as a multi-modal transport hub, the airport will be connected through road, rail and metro networks. It includes a cargo facility with an initial capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, expandable in future phases.
The passenger handling capacity in Phase I is set at 12 million per year, with long-term plans to scale it up to 70 million passengers annually.

Modi said the project aligns with the vision of a “Viksit Uttar Pradesh, Viksit Bharat”, adding that the state is emerging as a key hub for infrastructure and connectivity.
He also referred to global uncertainties, including ongoing tensions in West Asia, and said India is working to minimise the impact of such challenges on citizens and farmers.
