New Delhi: For the fourth day today, both the Houses of Parliament continued to witness pandemonium with the Opposition increasing its pressure on the government, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while the government continued to insist on discussion on the NEET paper leak without any pre-conditions.
In fact, the confrontation between the government and the opposition over the alleged NEET paper leak and student protests intensified sharply, with INDIA bloc MPs staging a coordinated protest in the Parliament House complex, demanding the resignation of the Minister and declaring that they would not agree to any parliamentary discussion on the issue until he stepped down.
Lok Sabha today adjourned twice and the Rajya Sabha thrice, even as the sloganeering Opposition focused only on the resignation of the Education Minister, which finally forced both the Houses to adjourn for Friday.
Earlier, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijuju in both the houses appealed to the opposition that the government is ready for discussion on NEET under any rule. However, the Opposition was unrelenting and continued to press the Minister's resignation. When Kiran Rijuju's appeal failed, it was clear that the Opposition does not want any discussion and wants the House to run until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns,
Both the houses were adjourned for the day.
The opposition leaders carried a large banner seeking Pradhan's resignation and raised slogans such as " Isteefa do",
"Gaddi chodo" and "Sharam karo" against the BJP-led NDA government.
This latest confrontation unfolded hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a fresh measure aimed at addressing public concern over examination paper leaks. Modi said on the X platform that the government had decided to establish fast-track courts to ensure the speedy trial of paper leak cases and promised stringent punishment.
