New Delhi: The widespread cancellation of IndiGo flights has created chaos across the country. Thousands of passengers were stranded at airports for hours, and many had their journeys interrupted. Now, in light of this serious situation, the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has taken a strong stance. The committee has indicated that it will soon summon all airlines, top officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the DGCA to investigate the real reasons behind this crisis and any negligence involved.
According to sources, the committee, chaired by JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, will discuss the issue in detail. Several MPs and ministers have themselves experienced the inconvenience of flight cancellations. This is why the committee is expected to take a very strict approach this time. Many passengers had also shared their grievances with the MPs, stating that the sudden cancellations not only caused them financial losses but also prevented them from attending important events.

In addition, the committee will also question the airlines about the exorbitant increase in fares amidst the flight crisis. Fares on several routes increased by two to three times the normal rate, further fueling passenger anger.
Meanwhile, CPM MP John Brittas has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) or a judicial commission to investigate the entire incident. According to him, the large-scale flight cancellations and the lack of a clear response from the airline management are both serious indicators. He stated that this crisis has exposed the weaknesses in the country's aviation system, which need to be addressed.

Amidst continuous criticism and government pressure, IndiGo issued a significant update on Saturday. The airline claimed that it has restored 95 percent of its network connectivity. Flights have resumed to 135 out of 138 destinations, and the airline aims to operate more than 1500 flights by the end of the day. According to IndiGo, the operational disruptions that have been ongoing for the past six days are now stabilizing, and passengers are beginning to experience relief. However, sources believe that the parliamentary committee's inquiry could further expose the entire matter.
