ISI Bill 2026 and Bankers' Book Evidence Bill 2026 in Lok Sabha
New Delhi: The Government on Monday introduced three key Bills in the Lok Sabha. These includethe Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026; the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026; and the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026.
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal tabled the Tribunals Reforms Bill 2026 in the Lower House. The Bill seeks to improve the functioning of tribunals and ensure transparency and uniformity in the appointment and service conditions of tribunal members. It also proposes setting up a National Tribunals Commission.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy introduced the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, which seeks to further amend the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. Apart from these, the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 was also tabled in the Lok Sabha, which seeks to change the name of the state of Kerala to Keralam.
The House is expected to receive reports from several standing committees, including those on Finance, Railways, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Social Justice and Empowerment today.
The Finance Committee will present reports on issues including the role of the Competition Commission of India in the digital economy, the performance of the National Statistical Commission and demands for grants for 2026-27.
The Railways Committee will present reports on freight earnings and Dedicated Freight Corridors, as well as demands for grants for the Railways Ministry. It will also table a statement on government action regarding recommendations related to the construction and maintenance of rail tunnels and bridges.
Lok Sabha proceedings have remained disrupted throughout the Monsoon Session, with frequent interruptions affecting the functioning of the House. Out of the eight bills taken up during the session, six were passed without any debate or detailed discussion.
Monday marked the 16th occasion during the session when the Lok Sabha could not complete the Question Hour, which is scheduled every day from 11 am to 12 noon. The repeated disruptions have impacted parliamentary discussions and the raising of issues by members.
