Strong Condemnation of Attacks

Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned the attacks carried out against the United Arab Emirates. He stated that the loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure are matters of grave concern. Both leaders emphasized the need to de-escalate the situation.

Focus on the Strait of Hormuz

The most critical topic of the conversation was the Strait of Hormuz. This is a globally vital maritime route through which a significant volume of oil supplies is transported. Both nations agreed on the imperative of keeping this route secure and open.

Consensus on Restoring Peace

India and the UAE resolved to work together to restore peace, security, and stability in the region as soon as possible. During the conversation, Modi also conveyed advance Eid greetings to the UAE president, a gesture that underscores the strong ties between the two nations.

Continuous Diplomatic Efforts

Following the escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel, this marks the second instance of Modi speaking with the UAE president. Additionally, he has reached out to the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Israel, and Iran.

Why Tensions Have Risen

The situation has, in fact, worsened following attacks on Iran attributed to the United States and Israel. In retaliation, Iran has targeted several Gulf nations, thereby heightening tensions across the entire region.
