New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi flags off three new trains from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. With this initiative, Mizoram is now directly connected to major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati.

Preparations in full swing ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s Manipur visit, MLAs tasked with maintaining peace

1. Aizawl–Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express

  • This Rajdhani Express covers a distance of 2510 km to Delhi.
  • The train runs once a week and reaches Delhi in 45 hours and 30 minutes.
  • Its average speed is 57.81 km/h.

2. Sairang–Kolkata Express

  • This train runs three days a week — Saturday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  • It covers 1530 km in 31 hours and 15 minutes.
  • Its average speed is 48.96 km/h.

3. Sairang–Guwahati Train

  • This train leaves Sairang at 12:30 PM and reaches Guwahati at 2:30 PM.

A Goods Train Brings Relief to Mizoram

A goods train service also starts, which brings cement, steel bars, and other construction materials to Sairang. This boosts Mizoram’s infrastructure projects and reduces prices in local markets.

Manipur on high alert before PM Modi visit

The Prime Minister will begin his visit from the sensitive Churachandpur district of Manipur. This is the main area of the Kuki community, which is most affected by the recent communal violence. So far, over 260 people have died, and thousands have become homeless.

PM’s Announcements in Churachandpur:

  • PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of schemes worth ₹7300 crore here.
  • He will also meet displaced people and deliver a message of peace.

Inauguration of Projects Worth ₹1200 Crore in Imphal

After this, PM Modi reaches Imphal, the capital of Manipur, which is the stronghold of the Meitei community. Here he will inaugurates projects worth ₹1200 crore.

This visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi emerges as a symbol of development, peace, and unity in Northeast India. Connecting Mizoram to the national capital through railway and engaging directly with violence-affected regions in Manipur shows that the central government is serious about the Northeast. This visit opens new avenues of development.
