PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting At Parliament Office
In the backdrop of the present deadlock between the government and Opposition over the police excesses against student protesters,the Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a high-level meeting in his office at Parliament House
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a high-level meeting at his Parliament House office with Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh, S Jaishankar and Nirmala Sitaraman.
The NSA (National Security Advisor) Ajit Doval, besides other ministers including J P Nadda, Piyush Goyal, Hardeep Puri and Sarbanand Sonowal, also attended the meeting. P K Mishra, principal secretary to the prime minister, also attended the meeting.
The high-level meeting comes amid a deadlock between the government and the opposition in the ongoing Monsoon session of the Parliament over the police excesses against student protesters during the July 20 'Clalo Sansad' march towards the Parliament. It also comes ahead of the tabling of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill 2026 in the Rajya Sabha. The Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with a voice vote on Wednesday.
Congress MP and leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, during the debate on the anti-paper leak bill in the lower house, accused Home Minister Amit Shah of authorising the use of police force against students, leading to a war of words between the BJP and the Congress leaders Gandhi also addressed a press conference in the national capital to target the Union Minister. Rahul Gandhi said that Amit Shah was " either culpable if he authorised the police excesses or incompetent if he did not know about it".
