Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted breakfast with 40 Members of Parliament (MPs) belonging to the NDA alliance.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed concern over the repeated disruptions of Parliamentary proceedings, stating that due to turmoil in the House. the country has been unable to listen to the talented MPs elected in recent times.
Modi said this a during a breakfast meeting with over 40 MPs from NDA constituents like NCPI, Shiv Sena, AIADMK, Rastriya Lok Morcha,UPPL, Republican Party of India (Athawale). Those who attended the breakfast meet included newly-defected Trinamul Congress and Shiv Sena MPs, such as Ramdas Athawale, Upendra Kushwaha, and Tambi durai. Union Health Minister JP Nadda and BJP chief Nitin Nabin were also present during the event.
Later talking to newspersons, the MPs expressed satisfaction with the Prime Minister's conversations during the breakfast. NCPI MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said they were "overwhelmed" with the way the Prime Minister treated them, as well as the knowledge he possessed. The PM loved to focus on overall development of West Bengal and the North Eastern states, she noted.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that PM Modi asked the MPs to do yoga regularly for maintaining good health. "The PM asked who amongst us do yoga. He asked us to get a health checkup done every week." The Prime Minister reportedly spoke to each MP present at the breakfast. Satabdi Roy said the Prime Minister advised that those crossed the age of 40 should practice yoga regularly.
Modi is also learnt to have told the MPs that they should not worry about their needs for the development of their constituencies. On Wednesday also, the PM hosted a breakfast meeting with 37 BJP MPs. Since the Monsoon session began on July 20, Lok Sabha proceedings have been repeatedlty dusrupted by opposition protests. Six bills have been passed without discussion amid din. Among the 20 Trinamool MPs, three muslim MPs were non committal about their allegiance towards NDA.
