Tel Aviv: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Israel on Wednesday for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as defence, technology and artificial intelligence.

Upon his arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Modi received a red carpet welcome from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu. The ceremonial reception highlighted the close diplomatic ties and growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

First Visit In Nine Years

This marks Modi’s first visit to Israel in nearly nine years and comes at a time when both nations are looking to deepen cooperation across emerging technologies and defence manufacturing.

Officials indicated that discussions between the two leaders are expected to focus on expanding collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, innovation and security.

Israel has also been actively exploring opportunities to expand defence exports and technological partnerships with India.

Ceremonial Welcome And Diplomatic Engagements

Following his arrival, Modi received a ceremonial welcome from the Israeli military, symbolising the strong relationship between the two nations.

The Indian prime minister is also scheduled to address the Knesset during his visit, where he is expected to speak about strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation in emerging technologies.

Later in the evening, Modi will visit a technology and innovation exhibition showcasing Israel’s advancements in cutting-edge sectors.

The visit will also include a private dinner between the two leaders, where broader strategic issues and future cooperation are expected to be discussed.

Visit To Holocaust Memorial

On Thursday, Modi is scheduled to visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial dedicated to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. The memorial, established in 1953, serves as a centre for remembrance, education and research related to the Holocaust.
