Leaders Come Together for Tea at Speaker’s Chamber
New Delhi: The winter session of Parliament formally concluded on Friday. On the final day, no legislative business could be conducted in the Lok Sabha due to disruptions by the opposition, after which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House sine die. Shortly afterward, Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan also announced the adjournment of the Upper House.
After the session ended, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla invited MPs for tea in his chamber. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended this informal meeting. He was joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav, and several other leaders from various parties. A notable aspect of this meeting was that Priyanka Gandhi, a first-time MP from Wayanad, was seated next to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also seen sitting near Rajnath Singh. This scene reflects a spirit of mutual respect and dialogue despite political differences.
Parliament Winter Session: Lok Sabha Adjourned Sine Die; Key Bills Passed
It is worth noting that a similar meeting was organized by the Lok Sabha Speaker at the conclusion of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, but the opposition parties boycotted it at that time. The presence of opposition leaders this time indicated that the platform for dialogue remains open despite political differences.
A day earlier, a meeting between Priyanka Gandhi and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also garnered attention. After complaining about not getting enough time to speak in the Lok Sabha, Gadkari invited Priyanka to his office, where they not only conversed but also shared a meal. The pictures that emerged after the session showed leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties smiling.
