The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had demanded Poonam Pandey's removal from the Ramlila. The organization clarified that Poonam Pandey's image and her past actions were against the religious decorum of Ramlila and Indian cultural values.
The VHP issued a press release on the matter, stating, "Respecting the sentiments of society and revered saints, the decision of the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee not to invite Poonam Pandey is welcome."
The organization also added, "There should be no place for obscenity in religious events. It is essential to maintain decorum on a sacred platform like Ramlila."
Although the committee initially stood by its decision despite opposition, the committee ultimately decided to remove Poonam Pandey from the program due to growing pressure and public sentiment. The committee stated that this decision was taken to protect cultural dignity and traditions.
