Rahul Gandhi Alleges ‘Vote Theft’, Says Opposition Will Ensure Modi, Shah Face Action

Rahul Gandhi accused the government and Election Commission of suppressing Opposition protests, alleging vote theft and constitutional violations, and vowed that those responsible would eventually face justice.

Delhi: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that the Opposition was being prevented from holding peaceful protests against the Election Commission and claimed that several senior leaders were responsible for what he described as “vote theft”.

Gandhi made the remarks after attending a lunch hosted by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at a restaurant in Connaught Place. He said around 300 MPs from both Houses of Parliament wanted to hold a peaceful protest but were stopped by authorities.

“Around 300 MPs, from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, want to do a peaceful protest, we were not allowed for two days, on first day, we were stopped in front of Election Commission, then we said we want to do a protest at Jantar Mantar, you saw we were stopped, our people were beaten, the reality is that Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Gyanesh Kumar, Mohan Bhagwat, by doing a criminal conspiracy, hijacked Hindustan, destroyed the constitution, have done vote theft, we, the opposition are saying that action will be taken. They will be brought to justice, this is our guarantee, you will see that these four people are brought to justice.”

Gandhi said the Opposition would continue to press for action, reiterating its allegations against the government and the Election Commission.

Opposition Steps Up Protest

The remarks came amid heightened political tensions over the Opposition’s protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission. The Opposition has alleged irregularities in the electoral process and demanded accountability.
