Indian Railways has announced unreserved special trains from Punjab to Prayagraj to facilitate devotees travelling for Magh Mela 2026. Special trains will run from Amritsar and Firozpur Cantt on selected dates in January and February.
Punjab to Prayagraj Special Trains to Ease Magh Mela Rush
Prayagraj: In view of the massive influx of devotees arriving in Prayagraj from across the country for the Magh Mela, the Indian Railways has taken a major decision. For the convenience of passengers, unreserved special trains are being operated from Punjab to Prayagraj. These trains will provide direct and affordable travel options to thousands of devotees attending the Magh Mela.
The Railways has announced two pairs of unreserved special express trains during the Magh Mela. These include the Amritsar-Prayagraj and Firozpur Cantt-Prayagraj special trains. These trains will operate on different dates between January and February 2026 to provide relief to passengers during the major bathing festivals of the fair.

Unreserved Special Train No. 04656 will run from Amritsar to Prayagraj on January 12, 16, 21, 30, and February 13. This train will depart from Amritsar at 5:10 am and arrive in Prayagraj at 4:30 am the next morning after a journey of approximately 23 hours and 20 minutes.
On the return journey, train number 04655 will run from Prayagraj to Amritsar on January 13, 17, 22, 31, and February 14. This train will depart from Prayagraj at 8 pm and arrive in Amritsar at 7 pm the next day.
The train will stop at several major stations along the route, including Beas, Jalandhar City, Phagwara, and Ludhiana, benefiting passengers in the surrounding areas.
In addition, unreserved special train number 04658 will operate from Firozpur Cantt to Prayagraj on January 11, 28, and February 12. This train will depart from Firozpur Cantt at 1 pm and arrive in Prayagraj at 12:20 pm the next day.
On the return journey, train number 04657 will depart from Prayagraj for Firozpur Cantt on January 12, 29, and February 13 at 11:40 pm and arrive at Firozpur Cantt at 11:30 pm, approximately 23 hours and 50 minutes later.
This train will stop at stations such as Lohian Khas, Phillaur, Ludhiana, and Dhandhari Kalan.

This decision by the Railways is expected to provide significant relief to pilgrims attending the Magh Mela 2026.
