New Delhi: In view of the rush of passengers during the festive season, the Railway Ministry on Saturday announced a new scheme. Under which passengers traveling between October 13 and October 26 and returning by the same train between November 17 and December 1 will be given a 20% discount on the return ticket fare.
This discount will be applicable on tickets booked from August 14. However, this discount will not apply to flexi fare trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto.
According to the press release of the Ministry of Railways, the start date of booking will be August 14, 2025, which will be for the ARP (Advance Reservation Period) date of October 13, 2025. The onward ticket will be booked first for the date of commencement of the train between 13 October 2025 to 26 October 2025 and thereafter the return journey ticket will be booked using the connecting journey facility for the date of commencement of the train between 17 November to 1 December 2025.
The ministry clarified that the advance reservation period (13 October to 26 October) will not be applicable for the return journey. The discount under this scheme will be available only when both the onward and return journeys are booked for the same passengers. The passenger details in the return journey should be the same as the onward journey.
The ministry has said that the booking will be valid only for confirmed tickets in both directions. A total discount of 20 per cent will be given only on the base fare of the return journey. According to the scheme, the travel class and starting-destination place should be the same in both the onward and return journeys. No fare refund will be available for tickets booked under this scheme.
