Rajasthan Board to hold exams twice a year from next session; Announces Education Minister

Jaipur: The Education Department has taken an important decision for Rajasthan students. The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will now conduct board exams twice a year. This change is being made under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced that this system will be implemented from the next academic session. This decision will provide students with additional opportunities to perform better and reduce exam pressure. CBSE Board Exam 2026: Preparation Tips And Steps To Overcome Exam Stress First Exam Compulsory At an event held in Kota, the Education Minister stated that it will be mandatory for all students to take the first board exam. The second exam will be called the 'second chance exam'. The purpose of this exam is to provide an opportunity to students who wish to improve their marks or, for some reason, did not perform well in the first exam. Students can reappear in a maximum of three subjects. Failed And Supplementary Students Also Get Chance This new system also brings relief to students declared failed or supplementary. Now they can also improve their results by appearing in a second examination. If a student fails to pass the second examination, they will be placed in the "repetition range," allowing them to reappear in the main examination next year. When Will Both Examinations Be Held The Rajasthan Board has also determined the tentative timings for the examinations: Main examination: February-March Second chance examination: May-June Both examinations will be based on the entire syllabus. This means that questions will be asked from the entire syllabus, not just a few subjects, in the second examination. CBSE Board Exam will be held twice in a year; Details inside Exam Fees and Result Method The fees for both examinations will remain the same. Another relief for students is that the results will be prepared on a "best of two" basis. This means that if students score better marks in the second exam, those marks will be added to the final result. If a student is absent from the first exam, they can appear for the second exam with a medical certificate or permission from the District Education Officer. Reduced Pressure on Students The Education Minister stated that this new system will reduce exam stress on students and provide them with an opportunity to perform better according to their abilities. The new examination system will not only provide relief to failing students but will also provide meritorious students with a golden opportunity to improve their scores. This move will make Rajasthan one of the first states in the country where board exams will be held twice a year.
