Rajasthan: Three Dholpur kids drown while bathing in Parvati River

Three children died after drowning in the Parvati river in Rajasthan’s Dholpur while bathing. The tragedy has left the village in shock, with leaders expressing grief and urging caution.

Dholpur: A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district on Sunday, where three children lost their lives after drowning in the Parvati river. The incident took place in the Maniya police station area near Gaidach village, leaving the local community in deep shock.

According to officials, more than half a dozen children had gone to the river area to graze goats and fetch water. Due to the intense heat, some of them entered the river to bathe, when six children suddenly slipped into deeper water.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat expressed sorrow over the tragedy, calling it heartbreaking. He extended condolences to the families and prayed for strength for them, while wishing peace for the departed souls.

Rescue efforts and casualties

Hearing the children’s cries, villagers rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. Three children were pulled out safely, but three others drowned before help could reach them.

Police and administrative officials arrived soon after being informed. With the help of divers, a search operation was carried out, and the bodies were later recovered and sent for post-mortem. They were subsequently handed over to the families.

Victims identified

The deceased have been identified as Sonam Kushwaha (14), Nishu Kushwaha (14), and Bhura Kushwaha (12), all residents of the same village. Two of them were students of Class 8, while one studied in Class 5.

Administration response

Senior officials visited the site to assess the situation and meet the grieving families. The district administration assured support and said necessary assistance would be provided.

Local representatives said one child managed to help save others, but three could not be rescued in time. The incident has left the entire village in mourning and raised concerns over safety near water bodies, especially during the summer months.
