Ravneet Singh Bittu resigns as Union Minister.(Photo: X)
Punjab: On Friday, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu resigned from the Union Council of Ministers after the completion of his Rajya Sabha tenure. President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation, according to an official statement.
Bittu, a former Lok Sabha MP from Ludhiana, represented Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha from August 2024 until June 21, 2026. The BJP did not re-nominate him to the Upper House after his term ended.
With the Punjab Assembly elections due next year, Bittu is expected to shift his focus to state politics. He is likely to contest the polls and is considered a key face in the BJP's efforts to strengthen its presence in Punjab, which is currently governed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Bittu joined the Union Council of Ministers in 2024 and handled the portfolios of Railways and Food Processing Industries as Minister of State.
Soon after his resignation was accepted, Bittu expressed gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve in the Union government.
In a post on X, he said it was an honour to serve the people of India, particularly Punjab, and reaffirmed his commitment to public service, nationalism, and the vision of a "Viksit Bharat." Bittu also said his journey in public life would continue with renewed dedication as he prepares for his next political assignment.
