CDS Gen Anil Chauhan explains why Operation Sindoor was conducted at midnight

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, who was on a visit to Jharkhand, recently spoke in detail about Operation Sindoor. He shared the reasons behind carrying out the operation at midnight. On May 7th, terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK were attacked between 1 and 1:30 am.

General Chauhan explained that the timing of the operation was chosen for two main reasons. The first was that the Indian Army has complete confidence in its technical and intelligence capabilities. Even in the dark, the Army had no difficulty gathering accurate information and evidence. The second and most important reason was the safety of civilians. He said that it would have been easier to attack between 5:30 and 6 am, but during that time, the Azaan (call for prayers) and the movement of people would have begun, which could have affected many innocent people. Therefore, the attack was carried out during the dark night to target terrorists and protect civilians from harm.
