India’s sharp message to China over backing Pakistan during operation Sindoor
New Delhi: India on Tuesday issued a firm response to reports suggesting that China provided technical assistance to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, saying countries that consider themselves responsible must reflect on the consequences of supporting actions linked to terrorist infrastructure.
The remarks came from Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a media briefing after reports emerged about alleged Chinese involvement during heightened India-Pakistan tensions last year.

Responding to questions on the reports, Jaiswal said Operation Sindoor was a “precise, targeted and calibrated” military response carried out after the terror attack in Pahalgam.
“We have seen these reports that corroborate what was known earlier. Operation Sindoor was a precise, targeted and calibrated response to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam,” he said. He added that the operation was aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Without naming China directly in the criticism, Jaiswal said, “It is for nations who consider themselves responsible to reflect whether supporting attempts to protect terrorist infrastructure affects their reputation and standing.”
The controversy resurfaced after Chinese media reportedly aired comments by Zhang Heng, an engineer associated with China’s Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), who claimed that Chinese teams had provided on-site technical support to Pakistan during the conflict.
According to reports, Zhang described difficult operational conditions and spoke about ensuring Chinese military equipment performed effectively during the confrontation.
His comments were seen as one of the clearest public acknowledgements of Chinese technical involvement during the period of military tensions between India and Pakistan.
Tensions escalated after the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed by terrorists linked to Pakistan-based groups.

Following the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps and infrastructure across the border. Indian officials had earlier alleged that Pakistan received external assistance during the conflict, including intelligence and technological support.
In recent months, several Indian officials have raised concerns over China’s growing military and strategic cooperation with Pakistan.
Reports by international agencies and defence analysts have also highlighted China’s support in areas such as military technology, cyber operations, intelligence coordination and diplomatic backing. China, however, has not officially commented on the latest allegations regarding Operation Sindoor.
