Road to be named after Pahalgam martyr Shubham Dwivedi: Municipal Corp

Kanpur: The Municipal Corporation has taken a big step to immortalize the martyrdom of brave soldier Shubham Dwivedi who was martyred in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, in the Municipal Corporation Executive meeting held at Motijheel office yesterday on Monday, it was unanimously decided that the road and park near his residence in Shyam Nagar will be named after martyr Shubham Dwivedi. This decision in honor of the martyr is not only a matter of pride for the city, but will also become a source of inspiration for the youth.

Meeting chaired by Pramila Pandey

The meeting was chaired by Mayor Pramila Pandey. She directed the officials to mark the road and park located in Shyam Nagar area which do not have any name till now. The marked places will be named as soon as possible and along with that their beautification and construction work will also be done. The Mayor clarified that this is not just naming, but an effort to make the memory of the martyr everlasting.

Decision to construct a square in Maharajpur

Along with this, the mayor informed that Shubham Dwivedi's ancestral house is in Raghuveer Nagar, Hathipur in Maharajpur area. Here the municipal corporation limits are up to Satbari Road, after which a suitable place will be decided at a distance of two kilometres and a square will be constructed. For this, the officers have been ordered to conduct a site survey. The proposed square will present the memory of the martyr in a more powerful form to the city dwellers.

Another naming proposal was also approved

Consensus was also reached on other important proposals in the meeting. On the proposal of MLA Neelima Katiyar, Gol Chauraha, GT Road will now be named after martyr Chandrashekhar Azad. On the proposal of Deputy Chairman Yashpal Singh, the statue of freedom fighter Babu Gulabchand Seth will be installed in Hatia Park. On the proposal of BJP councilor party leader Naveen Pandit, the road from Nandlal Chauraha to Regency Hospital via Govind Nagar will be named after freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai. Apart from this, it was also decided to name the road leading to Rani Ghat after former councilor late Madan Babu.
