SIR drive in 12 states; 42 crore forms distributed in 10 days

New Delhi: More than 42 crore counting forms have been delivered to voters' homes even before the tenth day of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of the electoral rolls underway in 12 states and union territories. One state and one union territory have achieved the target of 100% distribution of forms. According to the Election Commission, counting forms have been delivered to the homes of 94.27% of voters in Gujarat, 93.41% in Puducherry, and 93.22% in West Bengal. Furthermore, booth-level officers have delivered forms to 89.81% of voters in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 86.82% in Rajasthan, and 81.37% in Tamil Nadu. Status of Form Distribution in UP and MP In Uttar Pradesh, 79.89% of BLO counting forms have been distributed to the homes of voters, 78.41% in Chhattisgarh, 74.41% in Madhya Pradesh, and the lowest in Kerala, at 62.50%. Form Distribution to Be Completed Soon The Commission expects to complete the distribution of forms to 100% of households within the next three to five days, i.e., before the 15th day of the campaign. After this, the data entry process will proceed rapidly by collecting the completed forms. According to the Commission, a total of 509.526 million 685 forms were printed based on the 2002 to 2004 voter lists, of which 421.816 million 210 forms have been delivered to voters' homes. Only 87.71 million 415 forms remain to be distributed in the next 20 days. The final list will be released on February 7th. The deadline for delivering forms to voters' homes and receiving completed forms is December 4th. Five days later, on December 9th, the draft voter list will be published. Eligible voters whose names are not on the draft list can appeal to the District Election Officer and provide proof of their eligibility. If their appeal is rejected, they can also appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state. The final voter list for these 12 states and union territories will be published on February 7th, in the first week of February.
