Srinagar: Ahead of Independence Day 2026 celebrations, Srinagar witnessed a grand display of patriotism and national unity as Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, police officials and school students participated in a Tiranga Rally on Tuesday. The event was organised under the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to encourage citizens to celebrate India’s freedom, respect the national flag and actively participate in Independence Day festivities.
The vibrant rally, filled with hundreds of Tricolours, created a patriotic atmosphere across the streets of Srinagar as students and security personnel marched together carrying the national flag and singing patriotic songs. The event highlighted the spirit of national integration, social harmony and collective responsibility towards the country.
The Tiranga Rally began from Palladium Chowk and passed through some of the city’s most prominent locations, including Lal Chowk and Regal Chowk, before concluding at the historic Ghanta Ghar. The iconic landmark became the centre of celebrations as participants gathered with the Tricolour, marking the beginning of preparations for the August 15 celebrations.
The participation of CRPF personnel alongside school students reflected the importance of cooperation between citizens and security forces in strengthening national unity. The joint march sent a strong message of patriotism, respect for the national flag and commitment towards preserving India’s democratic values.
Senior CRPF and police officials attended the programme along with students from various educational institutions. Security personnel walked alongside young participants, encouraging them to understand the significance of India’s freedom struggle and remember the sacrifices made by freedom fighters for the nation’s independence.
The objective of the Tiranga Rally was to connect the younger generation with India’s history and promote civic responsibility. Officials highlighted the importance of youth participation in building national awareness, respecting national symbols and developing a sense of duty towards the country.
CRPF Assistant Commandant Prahlad Singh said that such programmes are organised to strengthen patriotic values among young citizens and educate them about the sacrifices behind India’s independence. He emphasised that the Tricolour represents the struggles, sacrifices and aspirations of millions of Indians and should always be respected.
According to officials, initiatives like the Srinagar Tiranga Rally play an important role in promoting unity, discipline and national pride among students. Such events also help create awareness about the importance of national symbols and encourage young citizens to contribute positively towards nation building.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign encourages people across India to hoist and display the Tricolour at their homes, workplaces and public spaces during Independence Day celebrations. The campaign has emerged as a major public outreach initiative aimed at increasing citizen participation and strengthening the emotional connection between people and the national flag.
With August 15 approaching, preparations for Independence Day celebrations have intensified across Jammu and Kashmir. Security agencies, government departments and educational institutions are organising cultural programmes, awareness drives and patriotic events to mark the occasion.
