New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India was ready to extend “all possible support” for restoring peace in West Asia during high-level talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting took place amid growing tensions in the region linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Modi’s UAE visit marks the first leg of his five-nation diplomatic tour that also includes the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.

‘Targeting UAE Not Acceptable’

During the bilateral discussions, Modi strongly condemned recent attacks targeting the UAE and stressed the need for regional stability. “We condemned the attacks on the UAE. The way UAE has been targeted is not acceptable,” the prime minister said in his opening remarks.

He also praised the UAE leadership for handling the situation with restraint and maturity despite rising tensions in the region.

Highlighting the broader global impact of the conflict, Modi said India was prepared to contribute toward peace efforts in West Asia and support initiatives aimed at reducing instability.

Focus on Energy and Strategic Cooperation

India and the UAE signed several agreements during the visit, including a Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding related to strategic petroleum reserves.

The agreements come at a time when concerns over global energy security and possible disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have intensified due to the ongoing geopolitical situation.

Officials said the agreements are expected to strengthen cooperation in energy security, supply chains and long-term strategic planning between the two countries.
