New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has once again shown a strong stance on his tariff (import duty) policies. He claimed that the US is so powerful that nothing in the world can run without it. Also, he justified the high tariff imposed on India and explained the reasons behind it.

Reason for imposing tariff on India

Trump said during a press conference in the Oval Office that earlier the trade balance between the US and India was disturbed. According to him, India was sending goods to the US without any tariff, while when the US exported something to India, a tariff of up to 100% was imposed by India.

Because of this, the US was not able to send anything to India, while Indian goods were dominating the US markets. Trump called the old US policy "stupid" and said that he imposed tariffs on India to correct this imbalance.

Trump stressed the power of America in his statement, saying, "Nothing will remain in the world without America." He claimed that during his tenure he has made America even bigger and more powerful. He believes that by imposing tariffs on trade, he not only protected American jobs but also helped prevent many wars in the world.

Real reason for increasing tariffs

According to the reports, one of the main reasons for increasing tariffs was India's purchase of oil from Russia. Trump had warned India not to buy oil from Russia, but India continued its trade relations with Russia. For this reason, the US increased the already imposed 25% tariff on India to 50%. This move was a part of the US strategy to put pressure on Russia, and India was punished for not complying.

In short, this statement by Donald Trump once again highlights his 'America First' policy. He believes that only through strict tariffs can America protect its interests and put pressure on other countries in trade deals. He considers the tariff imposed on India as a necessary step to prevent losses in trade and strengthen the American economy.
