The UK Sangat has approached Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, seeking urgent action against an AI app “Sikh GPT” for allegedly presenting incorrect and fabricated Gurbani. The letter calls for investigation, shutdown, and an advisory to protect Sikh maryada.

Concern Raised Over AI Use of Gurbani
New Delhi: A formal and deeply worded representation has been submitted to Singh Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Ji Gargajj, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, by members of the Sikh Sangat in the United Kingdom.
The letter highlights serious concerns regarding an artificial intelligence platform and mobile application operating under the name “Sikh GPT.” The Sangat has urged immediate action, stating that the issue directly impacts Sikh maryada and the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
According to the Sangat, testing of the “Sikh GPT” platform revealed alarming inaccuracies. The application allegedly generates tukks and references that do not exist in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
In several instances, spelling mistakes in Gurbani words and incorrect Ang (page) numbers were also identified. The Sangat emphasized that every letter of Gurbani is sacred and inviolable, and presenting fabricated lines as Gurbani constitutes a serious form of beadbi.
The letter expresses particular concern for younger Sikhs and those still developing a deeper understanding of Gurbani. Digital tools like AI-based applications, when not properly authenticated, have the potential to mislead users and distort Gurmat understanding. The Sangat stressed that adding disclaimers does not reduce the gravity of presenting incorrect or non-existent Gurbani content.

To substantiate their claims, the Sangat has enclosed annexures with the letter, including screenshots and documentary proof. These materials reportedly demonstrate incorrect Gurbani quotations, spelling errors, and wrong Ang references, underscoring the seriousness of the matter and the need for urgent scrutiny.
The Sangat has humbly requested Sri Akal Takhat Sahib to initiate an immediate investigation into “Sikh GPT,” establish the identities of its creators and operators, issue a show-cause notice, order the application’s shutdown during the investigation, and release an official advisory warning Sikhs against unverified AI platforms.
Reaffirming faith in Sri Akal Takhat Sahib as the supreme authority for safeguarding Panthic maryada and Gurbani, the Sangat expressed hope that a firm, Gurmat-based decision would be taken. They believe decisive action will prevent future attempts to undermine the sanctity of Gurbani in the digital age.
