Heavy Rain Disrupts Life Across Several Parts Of UP (Img: AI)
Lucknow: The weather in Uttar Pradesh has taken another turn, with continuous rainfall beginning to affect normal life across several parts of the state. While roads have been flooded in some areas, low-lying localities are facing waterlogging.
The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for more than 20 districts over the next 24 hours. Several areas have also been warned of strong winds and lightning, prompting residents to remain cautious during periods of bad weather.
According to the weather department, rainfall activity has intensified in Uttar Pradesh under the influence of a depression over areas adjoining north-eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Several districts recorded heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours. Rainfall of 21 centimetres or more was recorded at several places, worsening waterlogging in both urban and rural areas. Persistent showers have also made commuting difficult for residents.
The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall across several districts in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.
An alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur.
Meanwhile, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Barabanki, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Sambhal and Badaun are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The impact of the rain has also been felt in the state capital, Lucknow. According to the weather department, the city recorded 86.6 mm of rainfall until 6 pm on Friday.
The rain has brought down temperatures, providing relief from the heat. Maximum temperatures were recorded below normal in around 40 districts across the state.
However, the continuing rainfall has also led to waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of Lucknow and other areas.
Along with heavy rain, the weather department has warned of strong winds and lightning in several districts. People have been advised to avoid open areas during adverse weather and take necessary precautions.
The administration has also been directed to monitor waterlogged areas and keep essential relief and rescue arrangements in place.
According to the weather department, the spell of rain in Uttar Pradesh may continue until Sunday. Weather conditions are expected to gradually improve from Monday, with sunshine likely to return in some areas.
The withdrawal of the monsoon from the state is also expected to begin from the first week of October. For now, residents in several districts have been advised to remain alert as rain, strong winds and adverse weather conditions are likely to continue over the next few days.
