New Delhi: This information is very important for passengers traveling by train. Indian Railways has changed the rules for Tatkal ticket booking from July 15, which has come into effect from today. The purpose of this change is to make the ticket booking process more transparent and to stop the activities of brokers. According to the new rule, now your IRCTC account will have to be verified with Aadhaar to book Tatkal tickets, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Warning: Train tickets will not be available without Aadhaar verification from today. Do this work immediately, or else you will not get a confirmed seat.
New rule: Aadhaar verification necessary
Indian Railways has implemented a major change for Tatkal tickets from July 15, 2025. Earlier passengers could book tickets even without linking Aadhaar, but now it will not be possible. The OTP-based system introduced on July 1 has now been made mandatory. This means that now only those passengers will be able to book Tatkal tickets whose IRCTC account is verified with Aadhaar.
Easy process to link IRCTC account with Aadhaar
If you book tickets from the IRCTC website or mobile app, then linking your account with Aadhaar is very simple. For this, follow three easy steps:
Step 1: Login
Log in to your IRCTC account by entering your username and password. Then go to the 'Profile' or 'My Account' section and choose the option to link Aadhaar there.
Step 2: Add Aadhaar
Click on the "Add Aadhaar" or "Link Aadhaar" option. After this, enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number and submit. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
Step 3: Enter OTP
After receiving the OTP, fill it in and complete the verification process. If the OTP and Aadhaar number are correct, then your KYC will be successful, and Aadhaar will be linked to the IRCTC account. You can check the KYC status by going to your 'My Profile' section.
