Weather Forecast: IMD issues red alert in Mumbai today; Heavy rain in several states

Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and suburban districts Ratnagiri, Raigad, Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thane and Palghar for the next few days.

At the same time, the weather agency issued red alert for heavy rains in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka in view of fresh low-pressure area.

Meanwhile, Mumbai received heavy rains on Saturday, causing severe waterlogging in many parts of the city. Continuous rains in the city led to severe waterlogging at Gandhi Nagar, Kings Circle and Sion railway stations.

Delhi Weather
IMD has forecast that Delhi will remain cloudy on Sunday as well. One or two rounds of light rain are possible from morning to afternoon with thunderstorms. The minimum temperature may be 24 degrees while the maximum may be 33 degrees Celsius. At the same time, a landslide warning has been issued at many places in Himachal and Uttarakhand.

Weather condition in UP
The speed of monsoon in UP is fast at some places and slow at others. Rainfall has stopped in eastern UP and western Uttar Pradesh for the last 24 hours. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of thunderstorms and showers at some places in West UP on 17th and 18th August.

Heavy rain will occur in Lucknow
Talking about eastern UP, the weather is expected to remain clear for the next 24 hours. There may be light rain at some places on 18th August. If we look at the weather of Lucknow, today's temperature here can be 35 degrees maximum and 27 degrees minimum. There are chances of partly cloudy weather and showers. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Lucknow by this evening.

Rain in U'khand, Himachal and J&K
Rain continues in Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir. Torrential rains in Himachal for the last 3 days have disrupted normal life. Karsog assembly constituency has lost contact with Shimla due to road collapse in Tatapani of Sunni due to the rise in Satluj river.

Three national highways and 353 roads including Chandigarh-Manali four lane are closed. Gangotri and Yamunotri highways have been closed in Uttarakhand due to flooding and collapse. Heavy rains in Mumbai on Monday have affected rail and traffic. There is a traffic jam at many places. The weather department has announced heavy rains by evening.
