Shimla: The relentless heavy rains have wreaked havoc across Himachal crippling normal life. The infrastructure secerly damages and cripplled main services across the state. According to authority 625 roads, including significant national highways NH-03, NH-154, and NH-305, are impassable, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Power Cut In State

The state is grappling with power cuts, which have affected 1,533 power distribution transformers and 168 water supply schemes till Monday. According to officials, the death toll during the monsoon season since June 20 has risen to 303, of which 155 deaths were due to natural calamities like landslides and flash floods, while 148 deaths were caused by road accidents.

Road Closed In Mandi

The maximum road closures are in Mandi district, where 319 roads are closed, followed by Kullu with 101 and Chamba with 82. Solan district is the worst affected by power cuts, where 446 transformers are not working, indicating the gravity of the situation. The sky is cloudy and more rain is expected, so officials have advised people, especially those in hilly areas, to be cautious and reduce unnecessary travel.

IMD Issued Red Alert

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain in Chamba and Kangra districts till 3 pm today. There is a possibility of continuous rain in the state for the next four days, in which these districts may receive extremely heavy rain once or twice.

Heavy rains occurred throughout the night in Himachal Pradesh. Due to this, holiday has been declared today (August 25) in schools and colleges of Una, Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Solan, Kullu, Bilaspur, Lahaul Spiti and Mandi. At the same time, the first snowfall of this season has also been recorded last night at Shinkula Pass in Lahaul Spiti.

A three-storey house built on a hill in Sudhed area near Dharamshala suddenly collapsed yesterday evening. Many houses and farmers' land were submerged in Indora, Kangra, where vehicles started floating in the water.

Landslide In Chamba

A massive landslide occurred in Sahli Panchayat of Bharmour in Chamba district this morning, damaging a house. The security wall in front of a multi-storey building in Panjri area near ISBT in Shimla collapsed, posing a threat to the building.
