New Delhi: Temperatures continue to fall across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, the cold is expected to intensify on Thursday. Light fog may appear during morning and evening hours. Along with the cold, rising pollution levels in Delhi have also become a serious concern for people’s respiratory health.

On Wednesday morning, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 8°C, marking the coldest November morning in the past two years. Last year, in November 2024, the minimum temperature touched 9.5°C, while in 2023 it was 9.2°C. In November 2022, the lowest minimum temperature recorded was 7.3°C.

Chilly conditions intensify
Ayanagar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the region at 7.9°C. While morning and evening hours are giving residents a strong feel of winter chill, sunshine during the day is providing some relief. As per the forecast, similar conditions are expected on Thursday as well, with a maximum temperature around 24°C and minimum temperature near 9°C. Temperature fluctuations may continue in the coming days.

Air quality measures relaxed
Considering the improvement in air quality across Delhi-NCR over the last few days, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Wednesday decided to withdraw GRAP Stage-III restrictions with immediate effect. The CAQM sub-committee took the decision after reviewing air quality data and IMD/IITM forecasts. However, Stage-I and Stage-II restrictions will remain in force, and all agencies have been instructed to ensure strict implementation.

Cold wave grips Punjab and Haryana
Due to snowfall in the Himalayan regions, temperatures in Punjab and Haryana are dropping rapidly. For Thursday, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad, Greater Noida and other parts of Delhi-NCR are also expected to witness extremely cold mornings and evenings.
