After CJP, Another Movement Takes Over Social Media (Img: X)
New Delhi: A fresh internet-driven campaign has surfaced on social media under the name E20 Janta Party, quickly drawing attention for its criticism of India's E20 ethanol-blended fuel policy. Following the viral success of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the new campaign is attempting to mobilise motorists around a different issue: fuel choice at petrol stations.
The movement has attracted thousands of followers on social media and is positioning itself as a consumer rights campaign rather than an anti-ethanol platform. Its central demand is simple: motorists should have the option to purchase both E20 fuel and conventional petrol.

According to the campaign, the concern is not with ethanol blending itself but with the lack of alternatives available to consumers. The group argues that vehicle owners should be free to decide which fuel best suits their vehicles, especially those with older engines that some motorists believe may perform differently with higher ethanol blends.
Using the crab as its symbol, the movement has adopted slogans aimed at expanding its online reach while encouraging wider public discussion on fuel policy.
The Union government has consistently defended the E20 programme, describing it as an important step towards reducing crude oil imports, improving energy security and supporting domestic biofuel production.

Officials have repeatedly stated that the transition followed extensive technical studies involving automobile manufacturers, testing agencies and industry experts to ensure vehicle compatibility, emissions compliance and engine performance.
The emergence of the E20 Janta Party highlights how social media continues to shape public discourse around government policies. Whether the campaign develops into a larger public movement remains uncertain, but it has already added fresh momentum to the ongoing debate over ethanol-blended fuel and consumer choice in India.
