Does XP95 Contain Less Ethanol?

Like regular petrol sold under India's E20 fuel programme, XP95 also contains 20% ethanol blending. This means motorists should not choose XP95 expecting a lower ethanol content.

The main difference lies in its 95 RON (Research Octane Number) rating. Regular petrol in India generally has a 91 RON rating. A higher octane fuel is better at resisting engine knocking and can improve combustion in engines specifically designed for higher-octane fuel.

This makes XP95 suitable for vehicles with turbocharged or high-performance engines that require 95 RON petrol. In such vehicles, it may deliver smoother performance and better engine efficiency.

Not necessarily. Most hatchbacks, sedans and compact SUVs sold in India are designed to run efficiently on 91 RON petrol. Using XP95 in these vehicles is unlikely to result in any significant improvement in power, mileage or engine life.
