PM Modi announced ‘Mission Sudarshan Chakra’ from Red Fort—an advanced, made-in-India security system to protect critical infrastructure by 2035. New Delhi: On 15 August 2025, in his Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a historic announcement regarding the security of the country. Announcing the launch of 'Mission Sudarshan Chakra,' he said that it will act as a "national security cover" for India.

The aim of this scheme is to equip all the important places of the country—such as strategic bases, hospitals, railway stations, and religious places—with a modern technical security system by 2035 so that every citizen can feel safe.

Mission Sudarshan Chakra: What is special?

Capability of both defense and attack

PM Modi said that this mission will not only be defensive but also offensive. This system will not only neutralize the enemy's attacks but will also retaliate many times faster.

Based on Indian technology

The entire system will be researched, designed, and manufactured in India itself. The PM stressed that this will be a "completely indigenous" project, in which Indian scientists and engineers will play an important role.

Precise aim and automatic return

Like the mythological Sudarshan Chakra, this system will also be target-based; that is, its attack will be focused only on the enemy, and then it will return.

Target by 2035: Security cover for the entire country

The prime minister said that in the next 10 years (by 2035), every important place in India will be connected to this security system. In this, places like military bases, hospitals, railway stations, airports, and religious places will be given priority. He said, "Prosperity is meaningful only when security is ensured. And just as Lord Krishna's Sudarshan Chakra protected Arjun, this system will protect India."
