PM Modi dominates X’s new ‘most liked’ rankings
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to dominate social media engagement in India, according to X (formerly Twitter), which recently introduced a feature highlighting the most-liked tweets each month. The new tool allows users to see which posts are generating the highest engagement within their country, and PM Modi’s digital popularity remains unmatched.
Data from X for the last 30 days shows that eight of the ten most-liked tweets in India were authored by PM Modi. No other Indian political leader featured in the top ten, underscoring his strong presence on the platform.

The most-liked tweet in India this past month came from PM Modi’s account, showcasing him presenting a Russian translation of the Bhagavad Gita to President Vladimir Putin. The post achieved more than 2.3 million likes, reached an audience of 6.7 million users, and was reshared around 29,000 times.
This high engagement reflects both the Prime Minister’s social media influence and the continued interest in his international diplomatic engagements.
X’s latest feature allows users to access regional insights by highlighting the most-liked content in specific countries. While the platform previously focused on annual lists, such as the “Year in Review” in 2024 that included Virat Kohli, PM Modi, and India’s T20 World Cup win, the new monthly rankings offer a more current snapshot of popular content. The official “Most Liked Tweets of 2025” list is expected to be released next month.

In a separate update, X has launched the X Handle Marketplace, a program designed to make inactive usernames available again. Currently accessible to Premium+ and Premium Business subscribers, this feature allows users to search for and claim dormant handles, helping them enhance their personal or brand identity on the platform.
Accounts are flagged as inactive after 30 days of no login activity, with the possibility of removal after six months. By reserving inactive handles for a select group of users, X aims to minimize spam and protect against identity misuse.
