Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Wednesday formally announced the allocation of portfolios in the newly constituted cabinet led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
According to an official notification issued by the Home and Hill Affairs Department, Adhikari will continue to oversee several of the state's most influential ministries while delegating other key responsibilities to senior cabinet colleagues and first-time ministers.
In addition, Suvendu will continue to oversee the Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Power Department, and Information and Cultural Affairs Department.
Adhikari will also remain responsible for Personnel and Administrative Reforms, along with all departments that have not been specifically assigned to other ministers.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta has been entrusted with the crucial Finance Department in the newly formed West Bengal cabinet. He will oversee the state's fiscal management, budget planning, revenue generation and overall financial administration.
Senior BJP leader Tapas Ray has been given charge of the Industry, Commerce and Enterprises Department. In addition, he will head the Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction Department as well as the Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources Department, placing him at the centre of the state's industrial development and clean energy initiatives.
