Bihar Elections 2025: Can Amit Shah’s mega rallies boost NDA’s winning wave?

Patna: With polling day drawing closer, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has unleashed its top campaigners in Bihar. Today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to hold three back-to-back rallies across Khagaria, Munger, and Nalanda districts. The move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign push a day earlier, where he addressed massive gatherings in Samastipur and Begusarai.

The NDA, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, aims to consolidate its voter base in key constituencies before the first phase of elections to the 243-member Bihar Assembly.

PM Modi Predicts Record-Breaking Victory for NDA

Kicking off his campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a powerful pitch for the NDA’s return to power, declaring that the alliance would “break all previous records” of electoral success under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.

Speaking at rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai, Modi urged voters to keep the so-called “Jungle Raj” of the past at bay, in a clear swipe at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). “The entire Bihar is saying, ‘Phir se ek baar, NDA sarkar, sushashan sarkar,’” he proclaimed, calling on the crowd to light their mobile torches — a symbolic counter to the RJD’s lantern election symbol.

‘Jungle Raj’ and ‘Rangbaz Politics’: NDA’s Attack Intensifies

At another rally, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a blistering attack on the opposition, labelling the RJD as a party of “Rangbaz, Jungle Raj and Dakaitee.” Addressing a massive crowd in Barhima under Baikunthpur constituency, Chouhan praised Bihar as the “land of knowledge and compassion,” while highlighting Nitish Kumar’s governance model.

This wave of high-voltage rallies from top NDA figures marks a clear attempt to reinforce the “good governance versus lawlessness” narrative before voting day.

Mahagathbandhan Counters with Tejashwi and Sahani

Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan alliance, led by the RJD and supported by the Congress, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), and Left parties, has intensified its own campaign. The alliance has formally declared Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate and Mukesh Sahani as the deputy CM face.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, campaigning for the alliance, took a jab at the NDA, asking, “We have declared our CM candidate. Why hasn’t the NDA done the same?”

Modi urged voters to keep the so-called “Jungle Raj” of the past at bay.

NDA’s CM Face Still a Mystery?

Despite Modi’s praise for Nitish Kumar as “Sushashan Babu,” the question of the NDA’s official chief ministerial face remains unresolved. When asked directly, Amit Shah maintained ambiguity, saying, “There are five parties in the NDA; the newly elected MLAs will decide their CM.” Although, PM Modi, voiced strong confidence that the NDA would achieve a historic victory, surpassing all previous electoral records under ”Nitish Kumar’s leadership”.

This strategic vagueness, observers say, may be aimed at preventing friction within the coalition, but it also leaves voters wondering whether the NDA will truly fight under Nitish’s leadership.

While the Prime Minister stopped short of officially naming Nitish Kumar as the coalition’s chief ministerial candidate, he made his endorsement clear, saying, “This time, under the leadership of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, the NDA will surpass all its past records of victory. Bihar will give the NDA its biggest-ever mandate.”

Conclusion

As Amit Shah takes center stage in Bihar’s political theatre with a series of high-octane rallies, both alliances,  NDA and Mahagathbandhan are locked in an all-out contest for voter trust. With Nitish’s governance credentials on one side and Tejashwi’s youth appeal on the other, Bihar 2025 is shaping up to be a battle of legacies, leadership, and loyalty.
