BJP announces candidates for six seats ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections (Img: Pinterest)
Lucknow: Political activity has intensified in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Legislative Council elections for 11 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced candidates for six seats, including graduate and teacher constituencies.
The party has named candidates for constituencies including Varanasi, Meerut, Allahabad-Jhansi and three teacher seats. The announcement comes as political parties prepare their strategies for the upcoming MLC polls.
According to the BJP list, Kedar Nath Singh has been named the candidate from the Varanasi Graduate constituency. Dinesh Kumar Goyal will contest from the Meerut Graduate constituency, while Ashok Kumar Rathore has been fielded from the Allahabad-Jhansi Graduate constituency.
For teacher constituencies, BJP has announced Dr Pramod Mishra from the Varanasi Teacher seat, Engineer Hari Kishore Tiwari from the Agra Teacher seat and Dhruv Tripathi from the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teacher constituency.
The party is yet to announce candidates for the remaining seats.
The Election Commission has already announced the schedule for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections. The election will be held for 11 seats, including five graduate and six teacher constituencies.
The nomination process will begin on September 29, while the last date for filing nominations is October 6. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 7, and candidates can withdraw their names till October 9.
Voting will be held on October 23, while counting of votes will take place on October 27.
The MLC elections have increased political activity in Uttar Pradesh, with parties focusing on candidate selection and electoral strategies.
The BJP’s announcement of six candidates has set the stage for further political developments as other parties prepare their lists for the Legislative Council elections.
