Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) held a crucial organisational meeting in Lucknow as the party began preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. BSP chief Mayawati presided over the meeting, which was attended by party office-bearers from across the country. The gathering focused on strengthening the organisation and finalising the party’s election strategy.

During the meeting, Ishan Anand drew attention after he touched Mayawati’s feet before the proceedings began, seeking her blessings. The gesture triggered discussions within political circles over a possible new responsibility for him in the party organisation.

Ishan Anand’s Possible New Responsibility in BSP

Sources within the party suggested that Ishan Anand could be considered for an important organisational role, including the position of a sector in-charge. However, no official announcement regarding his appointment has been made so far. The development comes at a time when BSP is restructuring its internal organisation ahead of the upcoming UP elections.

BSP Changes Seating Arrangement at Key Meeting

The Lucknow meeting also witnessed a change in the traditional seating arrangement of BSP leaders. For the first time, the distinction between senior and junior leaders was reportedly removed, with leaders placed on a more equal platform during the meeting.

The change is being seen as part of the party’s effort to project organisational unity and renewed focus before the 2027 electoral battle.

Mayawati’s Organisational Reshuffle Ahead of UP Polls

Earlier, Mayawati had announced changes in the party’s sector-level structure by removing existing sector in-charge arrangements and introducing a new system. Under the revised structure, Mayawati retained responsibility for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while new appointments for other positions are expected. BSP chief may announce fresh names for vacant organisational posts after reviewing the party’s requirements.

With the UP Assembly elections approaching, BSP has intensified efforts to strengthen its grassroots network and reorganise party machinery. The latest meeting and organisational changes indicate the party’s focus on building a more active structure ahead of the electoral contest.
