New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has intensified his attack on the Centre over the police action against students protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak issue. Rahul demanded a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament and questioned his silence on the matter.
Sharing his views on social media, Rahul accused the government of using force against students who were demanding answers about their future. He alleged that protesters faced police action, including the use of force and injuries during the demonstration.
Rahul Gandhi directly targeted Home Minister Amit Shah, asking why he had not addressed Parliament on the issue despite repeated demands from opposition parties.

He said the Home Minister’s silence raised questions about his responsibility, arguing that either Shah was aware of the police action or he had failed to prevent it. Rahul said the government should ensure accountability and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the incident.
The Congress and other INDIA bloc parties have been demanding a discussion in Parliament over the alleged police crackdown on protesting students.
Congress leaders have repeatedly raised the issue inside and outside the House, seeking a response from the Home Minister.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also demanded that Amit Shah make a statement in Parliament regarding the incident.
In his remarks, Rahul pointed out that the Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF), which were deployed during the protest, come under the Union Home Ministry.
He argued that since the incident took place close to Parliament, the government must answer questions regarding the handling of the student demonstration.
Rahul said the Centre’s response to young protesters seeking transparency over the NEET issue reflected its approach towards dissent.
Meanwhile, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Opposition cannot decide which minister should respond in Parliament, adding that it is the government’s decision to determine who will address issues raised by lawmakers.
The controversy continues as opposition parties maintain pressure on the Centre, demanding a detailed discussion and accountability over the police action during the student protests.
